Named after Luther Halland, the city is known as the home of the Gulfstream Park and Mardi Gras Casino. The former named event is a horse racing cum casino whereas the latter one is a greyhound racing track.

This is a very small city with an area of 4.55 square miles. The population as per the 2010 census stood at 37,113. However, this city has a large number of banks and brokerage houses. However, the main attraction of this city is tourism. The best part is that a majority of tourists prefer to retire in this city. Known for its beautiful sunsets, Hallandale Beach is a great tourist attraction.

The proximity to Hollywood makes this city as one of the fastest growing real estate markets in the US. The population is predominantly White Hispanic but you can see people of other ethnicities making their presence felt.
Transportation is never a problem with the Broward County Transit providing a large number of bus services. You have the free minibus service within the city limits as well as the neighboring areas of Hollywood and Aventura.
The city experiences a tropical climate that remains pleasant throughout the year. There is the looming danger of hurricanes with Hurricane Katrina making its landfall between Hallandale and Aventura.

An extremely developed city, it had its electricity and street lights as early as 1927 when the population of the city was a mere 1500. The city has a decent education network as well with its public schools being part of Broward County Public Schools.

One of the biggest attractions is that Hallandale Beach is part of the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood media market. This makes it the 12th largest radio and the 17th largest TV markets in the entire US.
