The prettiest Small Town in America sits on a narrow long barrier island east of Fort Lauderdale and South of Sea Ranch Lakes connected to the mainland by several intracoastal bridges and to the east with the waters of the Atlantic Ocean in Broward County.

The city was incorporated in 1947 and has undergone several expansions particularly in housing area with the annexation of the Intracoastal Beach area expanding the residential neighborhoods.
