The Lighthouse Point community inherited its name from the Hillsboro Lighthouse Inlet in 1956 when it was incorporated, the small community of approximately 12,000 residents in 2.6 square miles, is located in the northeaster part of Broward County and limits to its north with Deerfied Beach, to the west and south with Pompano Beach and to the east with 18 miles of intracoastal waterways.
A boater's paradise, boasts 20 acres of tropical parks and 13 miles of tree laced winding pathways with many athletic fields and children playgrounds. The affluent community has a friendly leisurely lifestyle, is proud of its self sufficient nature and spectacular waterfront views. Comprises mostly (80%) of single family homes, many of which are waterfront, good schools and a great sense of community.
The median income per family is 55,000 and has many affordable condominiums and townhouses in addition to magnificent waterfront homes with direct access to the ocean. To the west side of the city runs federal highway with a myriad of shopping centers, restaurants and businesses. The well organized community has its own police department, fire department and a well endowed public library.
Historical sites can be visited by taking a boat tour to the Hillsboro Lighthouse as well as the old Boat House, The Bar and The Fish House. In addition to easy access to the many venues in Broward County, Lighthouse Point is conveniently located close to mayor highways like 95, Florida Turnpike, the Sawgrass Expressway and in close proximity to Fort Lauderlade/Hollywood Airport and Port Everglades.
The laid back and relaxed attitude of its residents as well as the incomparable views of the waterways make Lighthouse Point and ideal place to live for young and old alike.
