Sea Ranch lakes is a small community of about 700 residents located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterways, limits to the north with Pompano Beach and to the south with the City of Fort Lauderdale at only 3 miles and is only 20 minutes from Fort Lauderdale International Airport.
A walled community served by its own police force is a fully constituted and has its own mayor, village counsel and a municipal code. Oddly, the city owns no land inside the village and relies entirely on the Sea Ranch Lakes Beach Club, property of all the village home owners, owns all streets, medians and parks. Other community services such as a fire department, rescue and emergency services as well as schools are provided by Broward County.The village has two lakes divided by a park with a bridge providing great scenery to the area in addition to the views of the ocean and shoreline.
There is a living reef in its shores making snorkeling and scuba diving the most popular activities around the community, in addition to the traditional seaside activities and water sports that can be enjoyed year round. There is no commercial area except for a small strip shopping mall outside the gates and the city relies in Pompano Beach or Lauderdale by the Sea for shopping, restaurants and city entertainment.
