Arriving in South Florida at age 6, Sharon Allen became a Floridian instantly. Growing up in the rich tropical Florida of the 1950's provided the opportunity soak up the sunshine and participate in watersports. She became an avid competitive swimmer achieving All American times with her sister Marian on the Miami Norland Medley Relay. New sports such as surfing and water polo grabbed her attention, as well.
