Hollywood: A well-planned city
Located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami, Hollywood is one of the prime cities of Florida. This township in the Broward County is the twelfth largest city in the entire state. Built along the lines of the Hollywood Film city in California, The Hollywood by the seas is a planned city.
Spread over an area of 30.80 sq. mi. Hollywood has a population of nearly 150 thousand people according to the 2015 Census.
Founded in 1925 by Joseph W Young, Hollywood has sandy beaches that run for miles. Young dreamt of building a motion cinema city along the lines of Hollywood and hence named this township Hollywood as well. His aim was to build a city with lakes, golf courses, luxury beach hotels, clubs, and a main street, the Hollywood Boulevard.
Having a tropical climate, this city is a pleasant one to stay. However, you do have to contend with frequent hurricanes. The 1926 Miami hurricane was the most sever in recent times. This hurricane flattened almost every inch of the city.
The main attraction of this city is the beaches. In addition, it has about 60 parks and seven golf courses. The most famous Hollywood Broadwalk extends for more than two and a half miles along the Atlantic Ocean. Lined up with hundreds of restaurants and other souvenir shops, this area is vibrant with teeming tourists all the time. You can expct all types of cuisines at this particular place.
One of the principal cities in the area, Hollywood has a large number of schools and educational institutions. You have some of the top employers in this area situated in Hollywood. The Memorial Healthcare System alone employs more than 10000 people. The other notable employers include The Continental Group and City of Hollywood.
